Community Outreach

Serving our neighbors in Laurel and beyond with compassion, dignity, and hope.

Outreach is at the heart of our life together at St. Philip's. We believe faith is lived out beyond our walls — serving our neighbors in Laurel and across Sussex County with compassion, dignity, and hope.

If you would like to get involved, please contact the parish office. There is a place for every gift and every hand willing to help.

How We Serve

From food ministries to seasonal giving, our outreach programs connect parish volunteers with the people who need us most. Here are some of the ways we serve — and how you can join in.

Food Ministry & Pantry Support

We collect non-perishable food donations year-round and support local food pantries serving families in the greater Laurel area. Donations may be left in the parish office or brought to Sunday worship.

Community Meals

Parish volunteers help prepare and serve warm meals to our neighbors in partnership with community organizations. Join a cooking team, help serve, or contribute desserts.

School Supply Drive

Each fall we gather backpacks, school supplies, and classroom essentials for local students, ensuring every child starts the school year ready to learn.

Holiday Giving & Christmas Families

During Advent and Christmas we coordinate giving trees and gift collections for local families, sharing the joy of the season with children and seniors in our community.

Clothing & Coat Drives

We collect warm coats, blankets, and winter clothing each season, distributing them through community partners to neighbors who need help staying warm.

Diocesan & Community Partnerships

Our parish supports Episcopal and community ministries through prayer, volunteers, and financial contributions, extending our reach well beyond Laurel.

Kids R Cookin'

Kids R Cookin' gives children in our community a fun, hands-on way to learn cooking skills, kitchen safety, and teamwork — with recipes they can share at home. Sessions are led by parish volunteers, and every young chef gets to take pride in what they make. No experience needed, just curiosity and an appetite!
